This is “the” year of my life when I had married my beloved wife Derya and we both have had the honor to join the Koç University. It also marks the time when the Tower of Rumeli Feneri Campus against the Black Sea was imprinted permanetly on my memory, as I took my first steps down the Vehbi Koç Road. I always entertained the idea of seeing the Tower as a lighthouse, symbolizing the role of university. For it stands at the frontier of the known (the land), navigating the future generations and the curious mind in ventures farther into the unknown (the sea). For its beautiful scenery pleases and inspires like art. For its solitary might amid fierce storms signifies the courage in guarding the truth, the wisdom and the virtues of humanity.
