The person who initially came up with the idea of establishing a university, who emphasized it, and who provided material support was of course our father Vehbi Koç… Yet, later, the whole family and Koç Group companies made and would continue to make great contributions, hence it was unanimously decided that the name of the institution would be Koç University rather than Vehbi Koç University.
